TUCSON, Ariz. — Tucson hit its 107th day of 100° heat in 2020 yesterday. That now marks the most 100°, or higher, days in a calendar year.
Before this year, the record for most 100+ days was 99, set back in 1994. And to really put it into perspective, the yearly average is just 62.
We may be done with the triple-digits for now… but maybe not for good.
A cooler storm track will likely drop our Tucson highs to the upper 80s by Sunday and Monday of next week, but temps will go back up for the second half of next week.
There is a chance we could see a return to triple-digit heat by next Thursday and Friday.
For now, enjoy the cooler air over the weekend. Next week, we’ll see what 2020 has in store. Stay tuned to KGUN 9, and we’ll keep you posted.
