The average American consumes more than 23 pounds of ice cream a year, with candy and chocolate pieces being the most popular mix in. With the lazy {and hot!} days of summer weeks away, this summer, lines are sure to be snaking around the corners of ice cream shops nationwide to sample the latest flavors. From ice cream sandwiches and cakes, candies made into frozen desserts, there are so many tasty options that are sure to cool you off on the hottest day.

Dr. Maya Warren's international adventures didn't stop after her team won season 25 of "The Amazing Race" in 2014 — now she travels around the world to help develop ice cream flavors for Cold Stone Creamery.

Dr. Maya Warren is an expert in the science of frozen aerated desserts. She found her love of the science of food from watching Unwrapped on the Food Network. With Chemistry training from Carleton College in Northfield, MN, Dr. Warren went on to obtain her PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Food Science in 2015. Her scientific expertise lies in the microstructure, sensorial, and behavioral properties of ice cream and other frozen aerated desserts. In 2016, Dr. Warren joined the international ice cream company, Cold Stone Creamery ® where she puts her scientific expertise to work as the Sr. Director of International Research & Development and TastemasterTM. She uses her knowledge and taste buds to create frozen desserts and new flavors across the world. She also presents on and teaches various aspects of frozen aerated desserts all across the globe and is an advocate for STEM education. You may also recognize Dr. Warren from her win on the 25th season of The Amazing Race (USA) on CBS. She and her partner (former lab mate Dr. Amy DeJong) became the 3rd all female-female team to win the Amazing Race! As a world traveler and inspirational speaker, she uses all she has learned in life to inspire and excite people across the globe to believe in themselves and make the most of all opportunities, as she has with ice cream!
