Scammers are following the money! The scam industry is successful increase their odds of cashing in on victims. They are shifting their strategy and it seems to be paying off.
We know educating the consumer is the best way to get these scammers so the BBB wants to educate the public on their newest and most successful scams. A recent study done jointly done by the BBB with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and the Stanford Center on Longevitt found that 1408 consumers that were interviewed admitted they fell for a scam and reported it to us between 2015 and 2018.
Social media sites are prime places for scammers to take advantage of people. E-bay and Craigslist have been sites where victims say they have been tricked into a scheme and lost money.
