Every year, taxpayers lose millions of dollars to phone scammers, many of whom use call spoofing technology to look like the IRS is calling. But T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile are alerting customers against the fakes.
Scam calls are an industry-wide problem and T-Mobile is fighting scammers with free tools that work across their network. There is no app to download or opt-in required. To date, T-Mobile has alerted customers to over ten billion ‘Scam Likely’ calls. ’
It’s expected that over half of all calls will be scam calls by the end of the year. Most carriers make customers download an app to protect themselves, but T-Mobile customers don’t have to download anything.
When a call reaches the T-Mobile network, it’s analyzed, tagged, and customers are instantly alerted it’s Scam Likely. The network is updated every 6 minutes, so customers are always protected. And T-Mobile does this for customers for free.
