· With more remote learning taking place, we’ve got to ensure that each student is being looked after online just as well as they are when they are physically in the classroom.

· Lightspeed Systems, the nation’s leader in online safety software, develops web filtering and online student safety technology used across thousands of school districts nationwide. (note – schools purchase Lightspeed– not a consumer- but parents should ask their schools what filters they have in place, especially for remote learning and encourage a school to amp up their web filters)

· The web filters won’t allow kids to intentionally or unintentionally go to inappropriate content.

· Lightspeed uses artificial intelligence to monitor and analyze each students’ online activity for signs of self-harm, suicide, cyberbullying, and other inappropriate behaviors. When a potential threat is spotted, real-time alerts are sent to designated school personnel, including screenshots and other important information to drive appropriate intervention.

· According to a new survey from Lightspeed Systems, three-quarters of American parents are more worried than ever about their child’s online safety due to distance learning.

· 72% of respondents shared they’re worried about an increase in cyberbullying and 67% are worried about their child accessing inappropriate content.

· With all of these potential dangers lurking on the web, six in 10 parents surveyed worry they don’t have enough time in the day to monitor their child’s online activity while they distance learn.
