Former Wildcat basketball star and current Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr spoke on a Warrior's Insider podcast Friday night about the use of marijuana for chronic pain.
Kerr was surprisingly candid as he admitted to his own use of the drug a couple of times over the last few years as an alternative method to deal with the pain from two back surgeries that kept him out a good portion of the beginning of last years NBA season.
“I guess maybe I can even get in some trouble for this, but I’ve actually tried it twice during the last year and a half, when I’ve been going through this chronic pain that I’ve been dealing with,” said Kerr.
Kerr was also very transparent about his beliefs that professional athletes should not be penalized for using pot as a pain relief method.
The topic is currently a hotly debated issue in the NFL to manage pain.
The Warriors went 39-4 during his absence to start the season last year.
