Sunnyside Little League softball has won the senior state championship with a 12-2 win over Blythe at Mission Manor Park.
Samantha Santa Maria hit a solo third inning home run for Sunnyside, who is coached by Gabe Salgado. Second baseman Danitza Aguirre went four for five with four runs batted in. She also helped turn two double plays without committing an error.
Sunnyside, part of district 12, which hosted the tournament, went undefeated. The girls, ages 14-15, now head to Montana for the western regional tournament.
