Snapchat was founded in 2011, a full seven years after 33-year-old Larry Fitzgerald began his NFL career. In terms of bonding with his teammates, Fitz misses the pre-Snapchat days.
"Young guys are a little different. There's so much more of the social media. They're on their cell phones," Fitzgerald told ABC15 sports director Craig Fouhy. "Back in the day, you'd have conversations with your guys and sit around, play video games, play chess, play board games (like) Taboo late at night."
Fitzgerald, who is entering his 14th NFL season, is over a decade older than his 21- and 22-year-old rookie teammates. He said many younger players prefer to isolate themselves on their phones rather than engage their teammates -- and it's one of the things he misses about his early days in the league.
"That was great to have that team bonding," Fitzgerald said. "Young guys aren't into all that stuff. They'd much rather be on Snapchat."
