One year ago, Charles Manges stood as a spectator at the Racing the Sun event at Honda Musselman Circuit.
"The results were very disappointing, a lot of the cars weren't running for very long," Manges admits.
Manges and a group of his classmates at Andrada High School would join the state-wide competition this year.
"I thought with this cart here, it would be a good opportunity to essentially reverse engineer it and make it better."
Teacher Jim Nelson says, "we want the kids to fail a little bit, that's the way you learn. You've got to try something and if it doesn't work, you have to modify it."
