What's Trending: 5 New Healthy Snack Options

and last updated

When it comes to keeping ourselves healthy, one thing is clear. Sugar is getting the boot! We are snacking more than ever before, and finding ways to keep it clean is getting easier. The List’s Bradley Hasemeyer with tasty three treats without the sweet.

1.  Dill Pickle Cashews

Honey-roasted peanuts are so last year; 2016 is all about dill pickle cashews. Switching from sweet to savory means less sugar, which is a plus. Sugar can lead to diabetes, feed cancer, and provides no benefit to your diet.

2.  Avocado Oil Potato Chips

If potato chips were your old snacking go–to, kick it up a health notch with avocado oil chili lime chips. Avocado oil is a rich source of oleic acid, which has been found to reduce inflammation and help the body eliminate infections.

3.  Superfood Snacks

Sneak superfoods into your diet with quinoa chips or roasted chickpeas. Both quinoa and chickpeas are an excellent source of protein and antioxidants that help protect you from diseases like cancer.

And BONUS, try banana flour.  It's a powder traditionally made of green bananas that is often used as a gluten free replacement to wheat flours or as a source of resistant starch, which has been promoted by certain dieting trends such as paleo and primal diets and by some recent nutritional research.

Proving you can be all that and a bag of chips, because snacking smart is what's trending.
