KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) — Mohave County Sheriff's officials say detectives are investigating the in-custody death of a jail inmate.
They say 37-year-old Christie Marie Fortner of Kingman apparently hung herself in her cell Sunday.
A detention officer was conducting rounds about 6:30 p.m. and made the discovery.
Officers and jail medical staff tried to revive Fortner, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sheriff's officials say foul play isn't suspected, but their investigation is ongoing.
