TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — A man who was found shot in a crashed vehicle Friday morning has died, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department.
The shooting was first reported just after 5:10 a.m. Friday in the 3100 block of West Capistrano Road, according to officials.
Deputies responding to the call found the a vehicle that had crashed into a wall and a man, identified by police as 39-year-old William Fitzgerald, with a gunshot wound inside the vehicle.
Detectives later determined that a second vehicle was involved in the incident. That vehicle was described as a dark-colored sedan. Fitzgerald was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
On Sunday, officials said that Fitzgerald had died from his injuries.
The investigation remains active, but authorities said there is no threat to the public at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME to remain anonymous.
