Phoenix firefighters had their hands full battling a massive second-alarm fire in downtown Phoenix Sunday night.
Phoenix firefighters say the four-story apartment complex near 7th Avenue and Grant Street caught fire. It was under construction and was approximately 40% built.
Fire officials say more than 200 firefighters were called in to prevent the fire from spreading east towards other commercial properties.
Wind gusts reportedly caused the fire to grow rapidly, but crews were able to get it under control without spreading to nearby properties.
There were several explosions during the blaze, which fire officials say was caused by burning construction equipment and vehicles.
It is unclear what sparked the flames. Firefighters say there are no injuries to report at this time.
