TUCSON, Ariz. - Doctors at Banner UMC conducted a study that found using pain management clinics can help reduce the use of opioids.

The study was conducted with patients who have a non-cancer chronic illness like fybromyalgia, arthritis, and even extreme headaches.

Dr. Mohab Ibrahim, the director of the Banner UMC Pain Clinic, told KGUN9 one of the main points he wanted to get across with the help of the study was how beneficial pain management clinics can be.

"Please consider using the pain clinic, whatever pain clinic it is, early on in the process. Don't wait until the patient is on massive amounts of opioids before you decide this is the time to send them to a pain management," said Dr. Ibrahim.
