TUCSON, Ariz. — Census work is already underway in Pima County, and could play a big role in southern Arizona's future.
The U.S. Census Bureau says they have started canvassing addresses in Pima County. The county says about 35% of addresses need to be verified.
Security is important -- field workers will have an ID badge with their name, picture, a Department of Commerce watermark and an expiration date. They'll also carry an official bag or laptop with the census logo. The worker will also give residents a letter explaining why they're visiting your home.
They'll be in the field from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Data collected in the census is used to determine legislative redistricting, transportation planning, funding, community assistance programs and development decisions.
