TUCSON, Ariz. - U.S. Border Patrol agents came across several Central Americans after they illegally entered the country west of Lukeville early Monday.

The individuals separated to enter from several different locations through the region of the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument west of the Port of Lukeville.

The large group surrendered. There were 135 individuals that mostly consisted of families.

Border Patrol agents were able to secure the families from the heat, and retrieve resources. This did cause temporary closure at checkpoints on State Route 85.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection encourages help from the community.
