TPD to hold active shooter presentation

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) -- In light of the recent terror attacks in San Bernardino and Paris, the Tucson Police Department will have a presentation on what to do when faced with an active shooter. 

On Tuesday night TPD will hold the presentation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the the west side substation. It is open to anyone in the community.

To sign up you can email your first name, last name, phone number, business and business address to TPDPIO@tucsonaz.gov. As of Monday afternoon, TPD says there are still spots open.

According to the Tucson Police website, the presentation will be made a number of times over the next several months. No specific dates have been released. 

The FBI released a video on how to respond to an active shooter situation. Authorities suggest that you run fight and hide. Experts say your first priority is to try to escape, leaving your belongings behind. If you 

When you are out of the line of fire, prevent others from the dangerous area and call 9-1-1. If you can't get out safely, try the best you can to find a secure place to hide. Also, silence your phone, turn of the lights and try to hide behind something large.
 
As a last resort, law enforcement suggests to try and disarm the shooter, and act aggressively using anything you may  have as a weapon.
