TUCSON, Ariz. — Tucson Police Department has been awarded a grant of $20,000 by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for nighttime pedestrian and bicycle safety enforcement.

TPD will use the grant to fund overtime enforcement. The deployments will be scheduled for next week through mid-September 2019.

The locations of the deployments have been chosen from statistical information, crash data and community input.

TPD would like to remind the community to utilize crosswalks, look out for pedestrians and bicyclists, and to drive aware while watching their speed.

Tucson Police Department says it is thankful to the Governor’s office for its support in helping to make the roadways in Tucson a safe place to walk, bike, and drive.
