TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — A man who was hit by a vehicle on the night of Jan. 29 has passed away from injuries, according to the Tucson Police Department.

In a news release, TPD said officers responded to the 100 block of W. Valencia Rd. just after 9 p.m. for reports of a serious injury collision that involved a pedestrian. After first responders began rendering aid, the pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The man passed away days later on the morning of Feb. 4. He has been identified as 67-year-old Jesus Felipe Grajeda.

After conducting interviews, detectives learned that Grajeda was attempting to cross Valencia Rd. when he was struck by a vehicle. TPD says he was not in a crosswalk when the incident occurred.

A DUI officer responded to the scene and determined that the driver of the vehicle was not impaired.
