A 3-year-old boy was hospitalized Monday evening after a near drowning on the south side according to the Drexel Heights Fire Department.

The incident took place in the famiy's backyard in their above ground swimming pool in the 5400 block of West Utah Street.

The boy was found by family members after missing for 3 to 4 minutes. He was found floating in the pool that had green and murky water.

The pool was not maintained and was soon to be disassembled, however the access ladder was in place.

The family called 911 and were given CPR instructions over the phone. Paramedics arrived and found that the family's CPR efforts resulted in the 3-year-old gaining consciousness.

Paramedics transferred the boy to Banner UMC and his condition is not known.

According to DHFD spokesperson Tracy Koslowski, the boy was conscious but disoriented when he arrived at the hospital.

This is Pima County's 5th water incident for 2016.

The family did not hear any noise or even a splash according to a press release.
