Thief nabs electronics & Christmas gift

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A thief near downtown makes a strong case for being on Santa's naughty list just a few days before Christmas after breaking into a home on S. 4th Ave Wednesday night taking valuable electronics and a special Christmas gift.

In this case of the thief, it wasn't just Santa Claus who's always watching, but also home surveillance cameras.

Langdon Hill, the homeowner, caught the young woman on camera Wednesday night and showed Nine On Your Side the video evidence.

The woman tried to get into the front door of his house, but it was locked. She apparently went to the back and broke in. Hill's kitchen camera caught the thief rummaging through a desk, stealing a laptop, iPad, and other electronics.

In addition to the electronics, this thief also swiped the contents of a package sitting on the front porch. Inside was a bomber jacket that was supposed to be a Christmas gift for a young boy.

"For Everett, it was a little bomber jacket, and I don't know how we're going to get that back for him," said Hill.

Hill added that this could have been a different situation had he been home, he says based on the time-code in his security footage, he missed the thief by two minutes.

"If I hadn't had a red light, or if my wait person had gotten my bill done faster, wow, it could have totally been different," he said.

Hill says he hopes the public may help him find the thief, or she will turn herself in. He not .only wants to retrieve his valuable electronics, but also the gift that was supposed to go to little Everett
