Roughly 3,000 children between the ages of five and 18 are still waiting to be reunited with their parents, after the federal government enacted the zero-tolerance policy for illegal crossings.
Spokesman for Promise Arizona, James Garcia, says it is disheartening how families have been separated and sees it impossible for the government to reunite all families by the deadline that has been set.
The Trump administration lawyers have asked a federal judge to delay its deadline of July 10 to reunite children five and under with their families.
The lawyers say they need more time to track down dozens of parents who are no longer in their custody, 19 of them already deported.
The judge could make decision tomorrow.
"I think the federal judge is probably in a position where he's ordered them to do what they're supposed to do and if they don't do it, they should be found in contempt of court."
By July 26, the rest of the children who were separated from their families will have to be reunited.
