A suspicious item closed Buffalo Soldier Trail in Sierra Vista on Friday, according to a news release from the Cochise County Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff's Office was requested by the Sierra Vista Police Department to assist with a suspicious item located near the intersection of Coronado and Buffalo Soldier Trail.
The bomb tech from the Sheriff's Office responded to the scene along with a team from the Arizona Department of Public Safety to identify the item and take appropriate action.
Buffalo Soldier Trail is now back open and safe to travel after the bomb tech and DPS bomb squad identified the object as a pipe bomb and disposed of it accordingly.
