TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Thirteen local students received special recognition Thursday night.
Jim Click spoke at the Tucson Optimist Club's Youth Appreciation Dinner. The ceremony gave out awards to students who have overcome incredible challenges in their lives.
9OYS spoke to Click about why the organization is so important to him.
"To me it's about the future of America. I think it's important that we start recognizing these young people who are doing outstanding work in their community because they're going to be the future leaders and I want them to know how important it is what they do," he said.
The Optimist Club focuses on helping students in need through education and community service.
