Southern Arizona Chapter of the American Red Cross visits the Mexican Red Cross

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Cruz Roja Mexicana (Mexican Red Cross) was visited by a delegation sent from Southern Arizona Chapter of the American Red Cross on Mar. 28, 2019.

The visit included meetings with the search and rescue paramedic team of the Mexican Red Cross, staff members, the President of the Board of Directors, and representative from Mexican Immigration Services.

The delegation was informed about the immigration issues facing Mexico and the Mexican Red Cross on the border. There was information regarding the services offered by the Mexican Red Cross and the communication between Federal agencies regarding migrant issues on both sides of the border, migrants trying to cross the border, and individuals who have been deported back to Mexico.

The National Societies are managed by the Red Cross fundamental principles in addressing humanitarian crisis. This is apart of the global Red Cross Red Crescent network, the American Red Cross follows seven fundamental principles; humanity, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality.

Service will be provided to people who are in need during a critical situation no matter race, religion, gender, sexuality or citizenship.
