The shrine of the Luminous Mother located at the base of Tumamoc Hill was vandalized this week, according to authorities.
The Madonna statue that had been perched on the titled altar, now sits on the ground.
Resident Toby Morotta lives nearby and says she stops at the statue from time to time.
"It was vandalized, it was shocking at first," said Morotta.
The U of A owns the land. There has been no word on if or when the shrine would be repaired.
