Severe storms damage Cow Palace in Amado

Posted

For almost a century, the Cow Palace has been standing in Amado, Arizona under many ownerships.

Sunday night, rains from severe storms raged through the restaurant smashing chairs, tables and even moving a dumpster from the back of the building to the front of the parking lot.

For five years now, Lynn Greenes, has been the owner of Cow Palace. She says she has never seen it rain the way it did on Sunday night.

The damage to the restaurant forced Greenes to close the doors of Cow Palace, that once saw Hollywood stars like John Wayne.

"I see faces of people that were here and I just think of the people, the customers, the staff, you know their livelihoods are here. There's a lot of people affected by this."

Greenes says she will work to get the restaurant open as soon as possible.

"It's going to take more than that to knock the cow girl down that's for sure.
