Each year your federal tax dollars help more than 15,000 Tucson students eat a healthy breakfast and lunch for free.
It's through the Summer Food Service Program that ensures low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session.
Teresa Cribbs is the food service nutritionist for Amphitheater School District and says the menu is nutritous.
"We want to combat the problem of obesity and child hunger all at the same time," Cribbs said.
Amphitheater, Sunnyside, Flowing Wells, Marana, and Tucson Unified School Districts are all participating in the program.
It runs through June 23 for elementary and middle school students and through June 30 for high school students.
At Tucson Unified, adults can join children for a $2 breakfast and a $3 lunch.
