To continue road improvements, Cochise County declared Robbs Road a county highway.
Robbs Road, a dirt road, currently serves as a main route for the region's vineyards and other agricultural businesses. Earlier this year the county received a $475,000 grant from the Arizona Commerce Authority to pave three miles of that road.
County Engineer, Jackie Watkins, said in a press release, before the economic development grant could go into effect, the road must be established as a county highway.
Around $200,000 of the county's own funds will go into completing the project, which stretches between Kansas Settlement Road and Wayward Winds Road.
The project is expected to bring a boost to the vineyards.
Engineering and design work is expected to take place early 2019 with paving to be carried out in the fall.
