PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) - Prescott fire officials are reminding people to be prepared after four hikers who ran out of water needed assistance.

Firefighters were called Saturday afternoon to the north side of Watson Lake after a man reported his girlfriend was suffering from heat exhaustion.

A crew hiked to their location while other firefighters deployed a boat to an extraction point on the lake.

The woman was treated with an IV and fluids. She was later able to walk but they say it took her an hour to go several hundred yards.

During the rescue, crews say they were approached by another couple who had also run out of water while attempting the same hike.

Firefighters treated them and they declined hospital transport.
