TUCSON, Ariz. - With students heading back to school on Monday, here are reminders for drivers to be safe with more kids on the roads, walking and biking to class.

Among the districts returning on Jan. 7 are Tucson Unified, Marana, Sunnyside, Amphi, Vail, and Sahuarita.

Back in November, KGUN9 told you about a report where Arizona nationally ranked near the bottom for school zone safety.

Remember, you can't pass any cars in a school zone. If you see someone in a crosswalk, you must come to a complete stop.

If you're behind a school bus, and the stop sign is out, you have to stop, even if you're not directly behind the school bus, but in another lane.

If your kids are walking or biking to school, remind them to watch for cars.

Always remember to slow down, be aware of your surroundings and put all distractions away.
