CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (AP) - State auditors found suspicious practices in how Pinal County used anti-racketeering funds but a subsequent criminal investigation is ending without producing charges against two ex-officials.

Attorney General's Office spokesman Ryan Anderson says investigators didn't find enough evidence to prosecute former County Attorney Lando Voyles or former Sheriff Paul Babeu.

The Casa Grande Dispatch reports the investigation centered on use of funds seized under an anti-racketeering law that allows law enforcement officials to take cash and property belonging to criminals.

The Attorney General's Office submitted a report of their findings last year to Attorney General Mark Brnovich's office for further investigation of any criminal wrongdoing.

Anderson said investigators found evidence of poor record keeping in how Pinal County disbursed RICO funds, but nothing that could likely result in a criminal conviction.
