TUCSON, Ariz. — Probationers in Pima County celebrated their journey to success Monday through a program that is helping people start over.
18 people in Pima County are proving change is possible and celebrating their personal growth.
KGUN9 went to the county's "Journey To Success" recognition event tonight, which celebrates probationers who have made significant behavioral changes.
Probationer Augustine Favela said "I'm nowhere near where I need to be, but I know that I'm going in the right direction. I seems like before I would take two or three steps forward, and I'd take 10 back. It was always counter productive. But now, if I take a half a step at least I know it's a solid step forward."
Augustine Favela's probation officer of 7 years says he is inspirational.
Favela says it feels good to become an asset for the community instead of a liability.
Favela is set to finish his probation later this year.
