TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — Marana police identified the man who died in a July 29 bee sting.
Police say 29-year-old David Santiago was killed in the attack. He helped a juvenile get to safety.
The Marana Police Department says fire and police crews worked to clear the swarm near Thomas Aron Drive and Moore Road.
According to Northwest Fire District, at least six people were stung multiple times.
Three people were stung hundreds of times, leading to them being transported to a hospital for evaluation. Santiago died as a result of the injuries
Three firefighters were also stung multiple times, including one being stung approximately 60 times. Northwest Fire says he has been released from the hospital.
