The Pima County Sheriff is taking on a new role.

Sheriff Mark Napier was elected vice president of the Arizona Sheriff's Association this week. He will assume that office for a two-year term starting on Jan. 1.

Napier's election was unanimous by his peer sheriffs in the state.

It's the first time a Pima County Sheriff has been elected to serve as an officer in the association.
