TUCSON, Ariz. — As Thanksgiving nears, Pima County is issuing a reminder to keep residents safe: don't dump your grease!

The county says dumping grease or used cooking oil from the holidays (or any time of year) down the drain can clog or damage sewer pipes, but you can put it to good use.

That grease can be recycled into cleaner-burning biodiesel fuel, the county says. Anyone who wants to help out and bring their cooking oil to Pima County’s Agua Nueva Water Reclamation Facility at 2947 W. Calle Agua Nueva from Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

If you're willing to hold onto it longer, you can also bring it to the county's 15th annual Grease Collection and Recycling Event on Saturday, Jan. 4.
