Pima County health official taking job in Maricopa County

PHOENIX (AP) - Pima County's public health director is taking a similar job with Maricopa County.

Maricopa County officials announced Tuesday that Marcy Flanagan will become the county's new public health director on June 10, responsible for setting public health policy, responding to public health emergencies and preventing the spread of dozens of communicable diseases.

Flanagan will manage a staff of 600 with an annual budget of $60 million.She has had an 18-year-old career in Pima County, holding various public health positions and serving on numerous boards and commissions.

Flanagan has degrees from the University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University.
