TUCSON, Ariz. — Tucson Police Department is investigating a deadly pedestrian crash that happened Thursday morning.

Police have identified the pedestrian as the 83-year-old Gerald Zushin.

Tucson Police and Tucson Fire were called to the area of 3700 block of North First Avenue for reports about a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

TFD provided aid to Zushin where he later died on scene.

Detectives determined Zushin was crossing First Avenue from east to west.

TPD say as Zushin entered southbound lanes he was hit by a gray Nissan Altima that was SB in the curb lanes.

The driver did stay on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

DUI officers did not find any signs of impairment. Speed doesn't appear to be a factor.

Police say Zushin was not using a crosswalk or crossing in an intersection.

The investigation is still ongoing.

No citations or arrests have been made at this time.

Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call 88-CRIME.
