TUCSON, Ariz. — Pima County Sheriff's deputies were in pursuit of a vehicle after the driver failed to stop early morning Sunday.
PCSD said around 12:40 a.m. deputies attempted to make a traffic stop on Interstate 19 at Valencia Road.
Deputies said the vehicle did not stop and fled southbound on I-19 and exited at San Xavier Road, where deputies lost the vehicle.
Deputies later discovered the same vehicle was involved in a single-vehicle crash west of the interstate, according to PCSD.
PCSD said the driver was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The Tohono O’odham Police Department has taken over the investigation, according to PCSD.
Drivers traveling in the area may expect some delays.
