TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - A pay raise has been approved for teachers in the Tucson Unified School District.
Base salary for first-year teachers will go from $34,200 to $35,000. When you add the $500 increase for all teachers, that makes it $35,500.
Performance pay of $3,000 could bring the total to $38,500 for first-year teachers.
The pay raises will cost the district $2.1 million and will come from the Maintenance and Operation fund as well as savings from department-level reductions.
TUSD also approved a one percent raise for other employees.
