PHOENIX (AP) - Coconino County Attorney William Ring is among a state panel's four nominees for appointment to fill a Court of Appeals vacancy.

The Commission on Appellate Court Appointments recommended the four nominees to Gov. Doug Ducey to appoint a replacement for Judge Jon W. Thompson. He died in July.

Besides Ring, the nominees include D. Steven Williams, a member of the Navajo County Board of Supervisors and an Apache County Superior Court judge pro tem.

The others are Flagstaff lawyer Veronika Fabian and Joseph P. Goldstein, a Yavapai County Superior Court commissioner.

The appointment will be for the Court of Appeals' Phoenix-based division and for a seat reserved by state law for a judge from outside Maricopa County.
