PACC's highest intake days, how you can help

PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. — Pima Animal Care Center has a pretty steady intake year-round.

"We take in 50 to 100 pets every single day," said Nikki Reck with PACC.

Reck said the center typically breaks even each day with the amount of adoptions it has; but the amount of animals they see coming in each day, at times can be astounding.

Reck said kitten season, between April and October, is a big reason for the spikes.

"We get in 16 cats from a litter - kittens, and we'll get in so many litters in a day, so our busiest season is not around the holidays when it comes to intake," said Reck.

When it comes to high intake, fostering is the best way many can help.

"If you are looking to adopt, yes please adopt. But if you can't take one in full-time, but you have a situation at home that allows you to foster, you've cleared not only the kennel for that dog or cat, the next dog or cat. So you're saving two lives instead of just one," said Reck.
