TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The man killed in a west side homicide has been identified as 30-year-old Ricardo Navarette-Torres.

Sgt. Kimberly Bay, spokesperson with the Tucson Police Department, says officers responded to the 3300 block of North Romero Road where they located a man with obvious signs of gunshot trauma.

The Tucson Fire Department also responded to the scene, but pronounced the man dead on scene.

The shooter remained on scene and was taken into custody, said Bay.

Detectives responded and discovered the shooting took place near the northern driveway of the trailer park.

The deceased man, identified as Navarette-Torres, had a machete in hand and approached another man and adult woman who were in a car driving to a home in the trailer park, said Bay.

A confrontation occurred at the car and the man driving produced and discharged a handgun, striking Navarette-Torres who was holding the machete.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact 911 or 88-CRIME.
