Nurses, surgeons get firefighter experience

TUCSON, Ariz. — Nurses and surgeons from the Burn Unit at Banner University Medical Center got the firefighter Monday.

The group learned how to properly use a fire hose -- walk through fire -- fight a car on fire -- and rappel from a six-story tower.

Tucson Fire says today's event gives a better understanding of what everyone does when fire emergencies happen.

Lewis Harris Deputy Chief of Training, Tucson Fire Department said "These are the folks that they see in the burn unit. How does that process start? Where does it, how do they get here? That starts with us. We're the first responders. We're the first ones on the scene."

The firefighting experience was auctioned off at the firefighters ball earlier this year.
