Car accidents are the number one leading cause of death for teens and young adults and many of those crashes are caused by distracted driving.

Distracted driving can be considered texting and driving, eating while driving, changing the radio station, putting on makeup or doing anything besides just driving.

From 2014 to 2015, Arizona's traffic fatalities increased over 15 percent, to twice the national average.

Some tips to avoid distractions:

  • Put your phone in your pocket or purse
  • If you need to look at something pull over
  • Eat snacks before or after the trip
