UPDATE (9:46 a.m., July 31):
An 88-year-old woman, identified as Marilyn Young, was killed in the car crash on North La Cholla Boulevard, north of West River Road, Wednesday morning.
PCSD said in a news release that Young was heading westbound on North Fountain Avenue, crossing La Cholla, when she was involved in a "T-Bone-style collision" with a Chrysler 300C that was driving north on La Cholla.
Young was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the 300C, a minor, was not identified.
Detectives are looking at speed as a contributing factor in the crash

North La Cholla Boulevard is closed in both directions from West River Road to West Rudasill Road, according to the Pima County Sheriff's Department.
PCSD said deputies responded to the crash at just after 9:30 a.m. It does involve injuries, PCSD said.
The area will be closed for several hours.
Drivers should avoid the area and find an alternate route.
