More than two dozen bishops are expected to converge upon Tucson next week for the installation of the new head of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tucson.
A Mass of Installation for Bishop Edward Joseph Weisenburger is scheduled for Nov. 29 at St. Augustine Cathedral.
Weisenburger has served as bishop in the Diocese of Salina, Kansas since 2012.
He is succeeding retiring Bishop Gerald Kicanas.
Kicanas submitted his letter of retirement last summer as required for all bishops after they reach age 75.
Weisenburger was ordained to the priesthood in 1987.
The Diocese plans to livestream the event.
