Just two weeks until Pima county will decide our next sheriff. Monday night, Sheriff Chris Nanos did not attend a candidates forum even though he was invited. His rival, republican Mark Napier did show up and commented on the recent indictment of deputy sheriff Christopher Radtke.
'I think we'll have a very different at the Sheriff's Department. There won't be the cronyism and certainly not the era of corruption that there currently is," said Napier. "That's just not in my DNA and I think sometimes no matter how well an organization is run, outside leadership is very valuable. And somebody from the outside needs to come in and say 'No that's not how we do it, we actually follow the RICO rules and we follow the regulations on the procurement of things. Just because we've gotten away with it in the past doesn't mean that's the right thing to do."'
Napier also went on to talk about his stance against prop 205, which is the bill that would make recreational marijuana legal in Arizona. He says the language needs to be changed and shouldn't be passed until there is a better way of detecting impairment.
