TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Congresswoman Martha McSally says the recent attacks in Paris are a wake-up call about the true power of the terrorist group.
"ISIS has shown that they can export their terror to your neighborhood and so we have to take them at their word that their capability and intent is there and I do believe that this is a wake-up call," she said.
France's swift response, striking numerous ISIS locations within just days of the attacks, is closer to how McSally would like to see the U.S. handle the threat.
"We've got to have a military strategy that identifies targets that we can hit that are going to choke off their commanding control, take out their leadership, take out their means of resources, take out their logistics and any war fighting capability. We are doing our pinprick strikes ourselves right now."
The Congresswoman said U.S. fighter pilots are not allowed to strike legitimate ISIS targets if they know even one civilian could die, which is a policy she believes needs to change.
McSally also said the fight against ISIS is not just overseas, but begins here at home, because of the way ISIS uses social media to reach people around the world.
"I do believe that the threat is very significant, especially for lower-level attacks for somebody who is being radicalized at home without traveling anywhere, maybe isn't on law enforcement's radar and are maybe planning a small scale attack to take action into their own hands in their own communities with whatever weapons they can acquire," said McSally.
McSally said another big threat is the more than 4,500 people who have flown from America and other Western countries to Syria and Iraq to be trained by ISIS. Because
