With the ongoing problems at the VA, legislative efforts to improve the quality of care continue.
U.S. Sen. John McCain spoke on the Senate floor about failures to implement the VA choice card.
"These opponents are wrong and they know it. The problem isn't the choice card, it's that the VA refuses to implement it correctly."
McCain continued by saying, "instead of working to solve the problems at the VA head-on, the same bureaucrats who have completely bungled the implementation of the VA Choice Card are using their own failures as an excuse to shut down the entire program."
Under the law, the VA Choice Card pilot program ends next year.
Sen. McCain has introduced legislation to make the VA Choice Card permanent and universal.
